CamarilloDoggyDaycare

The creation of LAUGHING DOG INN was born out of our own stress and worry about leaving our dogs overnight at a boarding kennel.  We feared they would be scared, wouldn’t eat, wouldn’t get the extra love and care they were used to.  Over time our traveling decreased and we found that even going away for a night was emotionally trying.  We asked ourselves over and over what we would need in a facility to feel good about leaving our canine companions and once we answered this, the INN was born.

We know how much they mean to you and that it can be hard to leave them behind. For your peace of mind, pay us a visit and experience the safe and happy atmosphere we provide. Let us pamper your pups!

Typical Day

A day in the life at Laughing Dog Inn.

7:30 am  Wake up time. Outside playtime while breakfast is prepared

8:00 am  Breakfast is served. Medications administered.

9:00 - 11:30 am   Outside play. Active dogs race, wrestle, leap, climb and jump on playground equipment. Quieter dogs and senior citizens enjoy the sun or shade, lounging about on comfortable cots. On warm days, the pools come out, allowing dogs lots of time for water play. Since the toy breeds are so fragile, a separate area is provided for them. Safety is a priority, particularly for the small ones, and we make sure that they are secure overhead as well.

11:30 am - 12:00 pm    Dogs are brought inside to begin their rest period.

12:00 - 2:00 pm    Nap time. Soothing music and a climate controlled room are conductive to helping our doggie guests enjoy a much needed nap. Aromatherapy, lavender or vanilla, relax the senses. During nap time, we feed puppies their second meal and give dogs who free feed their bowls of food.

2:00 - 4:30 pm    Morning playtime outside is repeated.

4:30 - 5:00 pm    Doggie guests come inside to get ready for dinner.

5:00 - 5:30 pm    Dinner is served. Medications dispensed.

5:30 - 6:00 pm    Outside for potty time.

6:00 - 8:30 pm    Lights out. Soothing music, aromatherapy and a perfect temperature make falling asleep easy.

8:30 - 9:30 pm     One final time to go potty. Then it’s treat time. Biscuits and special treats are dispensed, each dog gets a warm hug and perhaps a song is sung and then it’s lights out until the morning.

Dogs are ALWAYS supervised during playtime. We maintain a staff ratio of one staff member for every 8 dogs. You are welcome to purchase our special treats; Braided bully sticks, Greenies, Texas Taffy, and other delicacies. These delicious goodies are given out right before final lights out. Meet our team

Thirty years as a psychotherapist has given Jessica Grahm a great understanding of behavior, both human and canine. She has always loved and respected the wisdom of dogs which led her to a career in which they are the center of her life. As the owner of the Inn, Jessica tends to every detail, knowing every dog by name and particular needs. She has a sixth sense, always attuned to anything that may not seem “right.” You can rest assured she will care for each guest at the Inn as if part of her own pack. Jessica relishes in the role as 'grandma' to her little charges, engaging in conversations, songs, or sharing a bench in the warm sun.

All staff members employed at Laughing Dog Inn are carefully chosen, having to demonstrate both a knowledge of and a love for dogs.  An eye for detail, a warm sunny personality and common sense are necessary attributes along with prior experience with dogs.  Training is intense and covers safety, dog body language, dog behavior and both common and uncommon physical illness.  While we rarely have emergencies, everyone is fully trained to handle any emergency quickly and effectively.  Every day, for all of us, is a learning experience.....the dogs are our greatest teachers and for that we are grateful!

And unlike many dog boarding facilities, we have a minimum of 1 staff member for every 8 dogs.  Which means that every dogs gets its individual needs met....more than a number, your dog is special to us!

We are very lucky to have Dr. Bradley Patterson as our on-call veterinarian. His clinic, located five minutes from the Inn, makes Dr. Patterson readily available to tend to our guests. His willingness to be on hand has provided us with an invaluable peace of mind.. In the event of an emergency or even for the simplest of questions Dr. Patterson is always there for us.
